CHARLOTTE, N.C. - TCU soccer earned its first road win of 2024 as it defeated Charlotte, 3-0, on Sunday afternoon at Transamerica Field. For the second time in as many games, three different Horned Frogs netted a goal. Freshman goalkeeper Olivia Geller made her collegiate debut and tallied her first career clean sheet.
The Rundown
The Frogs set the tone early in the contest, creating a multitude of chances early on. In the 12th minute, Seven Castain put the Horned Frogs on top with her second goal of the season. Evie Baker worked the ball to Oli Pena at the top of the box and she found an open Castain who buried it in the top of the goal.
TCU doubled its lead in the 35th minute. Lauren Memoly cleaned up a defensive deflection and delivered a rocket from just outside the box over the leaping 49ers goalkeeper for her first tally of the season.
At the half, TCU held a 13-1 shot advantage. It was a much more balanced contest in the second half as Charlotte put four shots towards frame, but it was TCU that found the back of the net with the lone goal of the frame.
AJ Hennessey cleaned up her penalty kick miss and netted her first goal of the season in the 82nd minute.
Olivia Geller made two saves, one in each half, to record the Horned Frogs second straight shutout.
