FORT WORTH – TCU women's tennis (10-10) won the doubles point but couldn't find a win on the singles courts, falling, 6-1, to No. 3 Oklahoma (20-1) on Friday afternoon at the Bayard H. Friedman Tennis Center. The Horned Frogs came through with wins from the No. 2 and No. 3 doubles teams before OU clinched the match with six singles wins.
The No. 3 doubles pair of Jade Otway and Stevie Kennedy swung momentum into the Horned Frogs' favor, winning three of the final four games to take their match, 6-3, tying up the doubles scoreboard after OU took the match at No. 1. With just one match left on court, the No. 2 pairing of Mercedes Aristegui and Isabel Pascual found a late break to go in front, 6-5, before holding serve for a 7-5 victory.
Aristegui and Pascual took down No. 50 Sleeth/Pisareva in the clinching victory, earning their first ranked win of the season together, in their second attempt. Their only previous match against a ranked pair came against Baylor earlier this season when the match was left unfinished, 5-5, against No. 5 Krywoj/Herrera.
The win improves TCU's doubles point record to 11-2 in home matches this year. This was the second time TCU has won the doubles point against a ranked opponent and the first time it has done so against a Top 10 team since 2019.
