Strong Defense Stifles Cowboys in 52-40 Win

Bane scores 20 and moves up to No. 8 in all-time scoring
FORT WORTH – TCU's stifling defense and Desmond Bane's 17th career 20-point game led the Horned Frogs to a 52-40 win over Oklahoma State Saturday afternoon inside Schollmaier Arena.
The Frogs improved to 12-3 overall and 3-0 in the Big 12, its best start in conference play since going 14-0 in the Western Athletic Conference during the 1997-98 season. OSU's 40 points were the fewest scored by a TCU opponent in a Big 12 game. It was also the fewest scored by OSU ever in a Big 12 game.
The Horned Frogs jumped out to a 13-6 lead through the first nine minutes of action while holding the Cowboys (9-6, 0-3) to a 2-of-12 (16.7 percent) start from the floor. Oklahoma State responded with an 11-4 run to tie the score at 17-17 with 3:46 remaining in the half. Bane scored the next seven points for the Horned Frogs to give TCU a 24-17 lead at the half.
TCU continued its strong defense down the stretch, forcing Oklahoma State to miss eleven straight shots for over six minutes late in the second half. The Horned Frogs took their largest lead of the game at 48-32 with 5:26 remaining on back-to-back threes from Edric Dennis and Bane. TCU stayed in control the rest of the way.
Bane led the way for the TCU, recording game-highs in points (20), rebounds (9), assists (6) and steals (3). Freshman guard Francisco Farabello scored 10 points on 3-of-6 shooting and recorded a career-high 6 rebounds.
