FORT WORTH, Texas - TCU had two players score in double-figures Saturday night en route to a 76-49 dismantling of Colgate inside the University Rec Center.
The Rundown
The Horned Frogs, now 4-3 overall, could do no wrong Saturday, shooting a blistering 50.8 percent from the field, including 61.5 percent in the second half alone. TCU, who never trailed in the contest, did most of its damage down low, securing a 42-14 advantage inside the paint, while holding a 40-23 rebounding edge.
The Frogs, who dished out 19 assists Saturday, were led by Vladimir Brodziansky. The Slovakian native tied a career-high with 19 points on 7-of-10 from the field. He opened the game, scoring eight of TCU's first 13 points. Junior Brandon Parrish was the only other Frog in double-figures with 14 points on 5-of-8 from the floor. Parrish also chipped in with five rebounds and four assists. Fellow junior Karviar Shepherd just missed his sixth career double-double, totaling eight points and a season-high 11 boards.
The two teams would open the second half trading buckets, but Colgate would continue to fight, cutting it to 42-28 at the 17:11 mark before Michael Williams, who made only his third start of his career Saturday, tickled the twine from the top of the key to stymie the attack.
A few plays later, Brodziansky would throw down a thunderous dunk plus the foul and TCU was once again flexing its muscles, going up 50-28 with 15 minutes left in the contest.
Following the 10-minute mark, Devonta Abron put on a show, chasing down a loose ball and igniting the crowd with a serious flush over a Colgate defender to give the Frogs' a 21-point lead. TCU would go on to cruise the rest of the way.
The Purple and White stormed out to a 13-2 lead in the contest as Brodziansky knocked down eight of the opening 13 points. The Frogs would continue on the attack throughout the opening frame as Parrish made it a 22-6 advantage at the 10-minute mark, scoring on a run-out.
Malique Trent increased the TCU lead to 14 a few minutes later, knocking down a jumper with a little over 8 minutes left to go in the half. By the time Parrish drilled back-to-back at the charity stripe, the Frogs had jumped all over Colgate, going up by 16 with 7:05 showing on the scoreboard in the opening frame.
A few plays later, Trent found a cutting Brodziansky for the layup and TCU increased its lead. The Virginia native would then knife through the Colgate defense on the next trip and find the bottom of the net to make it a 30-12 game down the stretch.
Colgate would go on to score the next four points to put a dent in the Horned Frog lead, but JD Miller promptly rattled home a jumper to make it a 32-16 advantage with 3 minutes left to go in the first half.
TCU took a 37-19 lead into intermission.

Quote of the Game
Trent Johnson
"The thing I was impressed with was our energy and our effort. I was concerned coming off our loss to SMU. Three games we could have won with a play here or there. That takes a toll on kids. It was good to get guys minutes and feeling good about themselves."
Brandon Parrish
"With the three losses, we learned a lot about ourselves. This is a good win. We've got a big month coming up and we need to build off it."
