FORT WORTH, Texas -- The TCU Lady Frogs (8-6, 2-1 MWC) cruised past the Air Force Falcons (10-5, 1-3) by a 71-57 score on Saturday at Daniel-Meyer Coliseum in Fort Worth, Texas. TCU has won five straight over the Falcons and is 6-1 in its last seven games.
The Lady Frogs steadily increased their lead to double figures in the first half, going up 22-11 with 9:47 on the clock after a jumper by Ashley Davis. TCU would lead by as many as 20 in the period at 41-21 following a three by Davis with 2:24 to go.
Davis netted 15 first-half points in helping the Lady Frogs earn a 44-30 halftime advantage. She finished with a career-high 20, going 4-of-6 from three-point range and 4-of-4 at the free-throw line.
The Falcons managed to pull within 10 early in the second half, but the Lady Frogs' size and athleticism allowed them to prevent an Air Force comeback. TCU lead by as many as 24 with the score 69-45 at the 6:50 mark.
In addition to Davis, three other Lady Frogs reached double figures in the scoring column. Adrianne Ross tallied a dozen, while Lorie Butler-Rayford and Jenna Lohse added 11 each. Butler-Rayford also had a game-high eight rebounds, six of which were on the offensive end.
The Falcons were led by Pamela Findlay's 17 points and six rebounds. She went 6-for-11 from the field and was 4-of-5 on three-pointers.
TCU shot a season-high 48 percent (24-of-50) compared to Air Force's 36.1 percent (22-of-61). The Lady Frogs also scored 27 points off 18 Falcon turnovers and held a 30-16 advantage on points in the paint.
The Lady Frogs next face San Diego State on the road Wednesday at 9 p.m. CST.
