Cross Country Earns Runner-Up Finish at John McKenzie Invitational

FORT WORTH – TCU cross country opened its 2026 season at home on Friday morning, racing at the fourth annual John McKenzie Invitational. The men and women's teams finished second overall at their home meet.

Mohamed Kowa was the top Horned Frog runner, crossing the finish line third for the men in the 5k with a time of 15:40.7. He was followed by three teammates in the top 10. In his collegiate debut, freshman Anthony Morales placed sixth overall in 15:53.9. Zach Troutman also ran a sub-16-minute 5k (15:57.7). Brayden Schick rounded out the top 10 individuals, finishing 10^th overall (16:05.0). Grant Martinez was the fifth TCU runner to cross the finish line, capping the team's score at 37 points.

Anastacia Gonzales led the women with an eighth-place finish and a time of 18:17.4. Less than three months off of earning All-American honors on the track at NCAAs in Oregon, Georgia Scott hit the course and cruised to an 18:52.9 5k and 11^th place result. Kate Selover followed in 12^th (18:56.9), and sophomore Megan Calhoun crossed the line 17^th (19:16.0). Jordan White closed out the top 5 runners for the Frogs in 18^th (19:22.4) to help the team score 56 points and secure a runner-up result.

The Distance Frogs are back in action on Friday, Sept. 11, in College Station at the Texas A&M Invitational.
