Evan Hendrix Named to AVCA Player of the Year Preseason Watch List

LEXINGTON, Ky. – TCU Volleyball's Evan Hendrix was named to the Preseason Watch List of the 2026 Division I Player of the Year Award presented by Nike Volleyball, the American Volleyball Coaches Association announced on Wednesday.
One of the most accomplished returning attackers in college volleyball, Hendrix finds herself among 30 of the top names in the sport recognized on the preseason watch list, which was compiled by the AVCA Division I Women's Volleyball Awards Committee.
Hendrix is coming off a breakout sophomore season where she became the seventh AVCA All-American in program history, collecting third team honors. Lining up on the outside, she recorded 543 kills on the year, the second most in the Big 12, third most in a single season in TCU history and 10th most in all of D1 volleyball.
A key piece of the Horned Frogs' success in 2025, the Scottsdale, Arizona, native was a unanimous First Team All-Big 12 selection after leading the league with 4.96 kills per set in conference matches. She also collected a pair of Offensive Player of the Week honors on Sept. 16 and Oct. 21.
Hendrix was a catalyst in leading the Frogs to their fourth straight NCAA Tournament appearance, where she posted 26 kills against eventual national champion Texas A&M (12/6) in the second round matchup, the most by a TCU player in the postseason in school history.
Poised for another big year, Hendrix and the Horned Frogs open their season on Aug. 29 against Texas at the Players Era Volleyball Showcase in Las Vegas.
This marks Hendrix's second appearance on the Player of the Year Watch List after she was added at the mid-season point of 2025. She is one of three TCU volleyball players in program history to be featured on the watch list along with teammate Becca Kelley (2025) and Melanie Parra (2024).
The Watch List will be updated again in October with mid-season additions before being narrowed down to a group of semifinalists in November. The AVCA will unveil the names of the finalists in December and crown the 2026 AVCA Player of the Year in San Antonio, Texas, on Dec. 18 at the AVCA Awards Banquet.
