Horned Frogs host Denver at 5 p.m. on Friday in opening round
FORT WORTH – The road to the NCAA D1 Men's Tennis Championship once again begins in Fort Worth, as TCU was awarded the No. 6 overall seed in the NCAA Tournament.
The Horned Frogs earned a national seed for the sixth consecutive year and 10th time in the last 11 seasons dating back to 2015. The selection marks TCU's 36th all-time NCAA Tournament berth.
TCU will now host first and second round matches on Friday, May 1 and Saturday, May 2 at the Bayard H. Friedman Tennis Center.
Joining the Horned Frogs in the Fort Worth Regional are No. 2 seed Cornell, No. 3 seed Arkansas and No. 4 seed Denver.
The Regional begins with a 2 p.m. dual on Friday between the Big Red (18-3) and Razorbacks (16-14), both of whom garnered at-large berths. TCU (21-5) then faces Summit League champion Denver (18-5) at 5 p.m. or 30 minutes following the conclusion of the first match. The winners play at 4 p.m. on Saturday in the Regional final.
As one of eight national seeds, TCU garnered hosting rights through Super Regional weekend. Should the Horned Frogs advance to the last 16, the Fort Worth Super Regional takes place on Saturday, May 9. TCU would face the winner of the College Station Regional, which features 10th-ranked Texas A&M, No. 18 Stanford, Penn and Wagner.
TCU is the No. 6 seed in name only. The Horned Frogs concluded the regular season tabbed No. 2 in the ITA rankings but was on the wrong end of a quadruple jump in the seeding due to various tiebreakers. TCU has pocketed 10 top-25 victories and ahs won 13 of its last 14 duals, most recently capturing the Big 12 Tournament title.
The Horned Frogs and Pioneers have twice collided on the hardcourts, most recently on Jan. 23, 2021 in Fort Worth during ITA Kickoff Weekend. TCU has shut out Denver in both of their previous encounters.
Cornell and Arkansas are touching down on the purple courts for the second time in three seasons. Both programs were assigned to the Fort Worth Regional in 2024. Cornell earned a 4-0 victory over Arkansas as the No. 3 seed. TCU then blanked the Big Red on the way to capturing its first NCAA championship.
TCU battled Arkansas in the first round of the 2021 NCAA Tournament in the programs' most recent meeting, shutting out its old Southwest Conference rival 4-0. The Horned Frogs hold a 22-13 edge vs. the Razorbacks in the all-time series.
The second round dual in 2024 between TCU and Cornell marked the program's first-and-only meeting.
The Horned Frogs have challenged for each of the last two NCAA Championships and made the NCAA semifinals in three straight seasons. The Frogs have advanced to the final four seven times (1989, 1996, 2001, 2015, 2023-25).
The 2025 campaign saw TCU reach the final site for the 10th straight season, a streak matched only by Virginia. TCU has notched six consecutive NCAA quarterfinal appearances and has reached the last eight in nine of the last 10 completed seasons. TCU's nine quarterfinal appearances since 2015 are more than any program nationwide.
The Horned Frogs' streak of 11 consecutive postseason appearances is the second-longest in program history, trailing only the program's run of 16 straight NCAA Tournament selections from 1991-2006.
All three Regional matches will be streamed via PlaySight as a part of a Cracked Racquets Cross Court Cast.
