Horned Frogs look to extend their winning streak to eight matches
FORT WORTH – Coming off a historic victory against No. 6 Arizona State, the TCU women's tennis team will face off against Arizona on Sunday at 12 p.m. at Bayard H. Friedman Tennis Center.
On Friday, TCU pulled in its seventh-straight win after sweeping Arizona State, 4-0. All seven of these victories have come so by way of a 4-0 decision in favor of the Frogs.
Raquel Caballero Chica notched one of the most impressive victories of her career on Friday, defeating Arizona State's Emilija Tverijonaite at the No. 1 singles spot, 6-2, 6-1.
Yu-Chin Tsai improved her dual singles record on the year to a perfect 6-0 after securing a singles win during the sweep against Arizona State. The senior leads TCU in wins so far this spring and has had an impressive start to the dual season.
With TCU's win over the No. 6 Sun Devils, the Frogs secured their highest-ranked win since taking down seventh-ranked Texas Tech on April 15, 2017, in Lubbock.
A WIN STREAK FOR THE AGES
TCU has currently rattled off seven consecutive victories, doing so with 4-0 sweeps in each match. The last time TCU won seven or more matches in a row was In 2016 when the Frogs posted nine straight triumphs spanning Feb. 25-April 3.
SCOUTING THE WILDCATS
Arizona currently sits at 7-6 on the dual season. The Wildcats opened Big 12 play with a match against Baylor in Waco, where they would fall to the Bears, 4-3.
Tanvi Narendran has been the top singles performer so far for Arizona, currently holding a 9-1 mark in singles play. The Wildcats have five individuals who currently have 6 or more singles victories on the year.
HISTORY AGAINST THE WILDCATS
Since joining the Big 12, TCU is 1-1 against Arizona, Their first matchup with both teams apart of the conference was last season, with the Wildcats taking a 4-1 victory in Tucson.
