Caballero picks up first ranked win of 2025

FORT WORTH – The TCU women's tennis team fell to the No. 11 ranked Texas Longhorns 6-1 on Thursday night at the Bayard H. Friedman Tennis Center.

LEE'S THOUGHTS
"I'm proud of Raquel for getting a dominant nationally ranked win. She's been battling a nagging injury but has remained focused in her strength and conditioning and intentional with the time she has had on court. She has made such positive strides the last 4 months and we look forward to working her back into doubles soon as well," Head Coach Lee Walker said.

"Texas has a great team and played better than us on the majority of big points. It's always refining going up against a top team. It's where we want to be and what I thought we were ready for. But we learned a lot and will apply it immediately to a solid Washington State team."

THE RUNDOWN
The match began in doubles, where Texas won on courts two and three to secure the doubles point.

In singles, the Longhorns got off to a hot start, starting with Cha Kempenears-Pocz defeated Tomi Main on court five, 6-1, 6-2. However, the Horned Frogs fought back when Raquel Caballero defeated No. 124 Eszter Meri to earn her first ranked win of the season. But Texas continued to fight, taking courts one and three where No. 87 Sabina Zeynalova defeated Jade Otway (6-1, 6-2), and No. 104 Ashton Bowers defeated Isabel Pascual (6-3, 6-2)

Yu- Chin Tsai put in two strong sets against No. 25 Carmen Herea, 4-6, 6-2, before falling in the tiebreak 5-10. In the last match of the day, Maya Drozd fell to Salma Drugdova, 6-1, 6-4.
