TCU extends win streak to four matches
TEMPE, Ariz. – The No. 9 TCU women's soccer team capped off an undefeated regular season road slate on Sunday afternoon at Sun Devil Soccer Stadium, defeating Arizona State in 2-1 fashion.
THE RUNDOWN
The Horned Frogs (14-2-1, 8-1-1 Big 12) were aggressive on the offensive end throughout the full 90 minutes of today's matchup. TCU secured a 23-5 shot advantage over the Sun Devils, putting eight shots on goal as well. Kamdyn Fuller and Sydney Beccera posted two quick shots within the first five minutes off of some nice build ups from TCU and the offensive pressure would continue from there.
In the 38th minute, TCU would earn a corner kick and loft a ball into the box. After it was deflected a few times, it would find its way into the feet of Kaela Martinez, who would then put in a cross that was headed into the back of the net by Morgan Brown to give TCU a 1-0 advantage.
Cameron Patton would help TCU extend its advantage to 2-0 in the 60th minute when she sprinted down the far sideline and crossed in a ball to the box that would deflect off the head of a Sun Devil defender and land in the back of the net. Arizona State would get on the board less than 10 minutes later, scoring in the 67th minute to bring the ledger to 2-1.
Although the Frogs held the lead, they continued to stay on the offensive. TCU was able to hold strong in the closing 20 minutes and complete the victory. Olivia Geller played all 90 minutes, earning two saves.
QUOTE OF THE GAME
Overall thoughts…
"I was really pleased with our effort for the game. I thought we did the things that we had talked about doing from an attacking perspective. I thought our defending was quite good. We scored a really good goal in the first half and saw the game out in the second half. I'm really pleased with the performance by the group and looking forward to playing next week."
On capturing an undefeated road record during the regular season…
"We know how to circle the wagons when we're on the road. Have a really tight-knit group who likes to play with each other and be around each other. Being on the road is pretty comfortable for us. It's hard to win college soccer games and it's hard to win on the road, and I'm really happy and proud of our group for doing what they did this weekend."
