
TCU Clinches Series; Tops Texas Tech 4-3

Bullpen tosses 5 2/3 scoreless innings
FORT WORTH – The TCU bullpen tossed 5 2/3 scoreless innings to help the Horned Frogs lock up a 4-3 series-clinching win over Texas Tech Sunday afternoon at Lupton Stadium. Luke Boyers homered and drove in three as part of a two-hit game.
The Rundown
Two walks in the first set the table for Luke Boyers, who put the Horned Frogs in front 3-0 with a home run to right field.
Texas Tech pecked away at the deficit, scoring single runs in the second, third and fourth to tie the game at three. Ben Hampton (1-1) took over with two in scoring position and one out in the fourth. While the tying run scored, Hampton retired two straight to keep the damage to one run.
TCU wasted little time regaining the lead, scoring a run on two hits in the fourth. Fisher Ingersoll led off the inning with a base hit and stole second. Ryder Robinson lined a single back through the middle and Ingersoll slid in ahead of the tag to give the Frogs a 4-3 lead.
The Red Raiders had base runners in every inning after TCU took the lead. TCU turned a big double play in the seventh after a lead-off single and pitched around a two-out double in the eighth.
In the ninth, the first two batters reached. Parker took over and induced two fly ball outs and caught the final batter looking to secure the save.
Hampton picked up the win in relief, allowing just two hits and striking out two over two innings of work. Cawyer surrendered three hits, walked two and struck out one in 2 2/3 innings. Mason Bixby started for the Horned Frogs and allowed three runs on five hits. He walked two and struck out six.
