
TCU Drops Game 2 at West Virginia, 7-4

MORGANTOWN, W. Va. – A six-run sixth inning propelled West Virginia to a 7-4 win over TCU Saturday afternoon. Louis Rodriguez made his first collegiate start in the contest. Karson Bowen registered three hits on the day and Austin Davis picked up his 200th career hit in the game.
The Rundown
TCU carried a 4-1 lead into the sixth but a hit batter to open the West Virginia half of the inning was an omen of things to come. A triple made it a 4-2 game. With two in scoring position, Landon Wallace tied the game with a base hit to left. Three batters later, the Mountaineers had a 7-4 lead on the strength of an Ellis Gracia home run.
The Horned Frogs had chances in the seventh and eighth, but couldn't come up with the big hit as they stranded three runners combined in those two frames.
TCU opened up a 1-0 lead in the first. With two outs and a runner on second, Cole Fontenelle doubled down the right field line to give the Frogs the lead.
A lead-off single from Karson Bowen followed by a two base error in the outfield had the Frogs positioned to add to its lead. Logan Maxwell grounded out to make it a 2-0 ballgame.
After WVU cut the lead in half in the fourth, TCU responded with two in the fifth to push its lead to three, 4-1. Bowen singled to left to drive in the two runs.
Louis Rodriguez was solid in making his first career start. He allowed three runs on five hits over five innings of work. Luke Savage (0-2) took the loss after allowing two runs. Cohen Feser retired all eight batters he faced to close out the game.
