The Rundown
AJ Hennessey beat a Baylor defender down the line and drew a foul inside the penalty box resulting in a penalty kick. Hennessey knocked home the penalty kick to give the Horned Frogs a 1-0 lead early in the contest.
The Frogs dominated possession for most of the first half, going into halftime with a 12-1 shot advantaged over the Bears.
In the second half, TCU continued to control the possession and stayed on the attack earning four corner opportunities. TCU had a couple of good looks to add to its lead, but fired a pair of shots high and saw the Bear keeper make a save on a Lauren Memoly shot.
Lauren Kellett made two key saves in the second half. The most dangerous of threats came in the 79th minute when Baylor had a shot inside the box after a giveaway. Kellett was in the right spot at the right time, stopping the shot with ease.
Quotes of the Game:
Head Coach Eric Bell
Overall thoughts on the game
"It was a tale of two halves, but I think a little bit different than Thursday, but in a positive way. I thought we dominated the first half possession and created a lot of good opportunities out of the possession. The Baylor goalkeeper came up big on a few occasions to keep them in the game. We got fouled in the box in the first half and AJ (Hennessey) put away a PK. I'm really proud of our performance in the first half as far as TCU soccer is concerned. The second half was a little bit more tactical. Baylor stepped up and pressed a little bit higher, making it harder for us. We used the wind to play a bit of a more territorial game."
On the response after Thursday's game
"I thought we were on the front foot for the first 45 minutes. We did some really good things and I'm proud of the response."
