Both matches will be played outdoors at the Purple Courts
Fort Worth: TCU Women's Tennis will begin their 51st season in program history with back-to-back home matches at the purple courts. The Horned Frogs will open their season versus interstate foe UTSA on Friday, Jan. 20 and Northwestern State Saturday, Jan. 21. First serve on Friday is scheduled for 2 p.m. and 1 p.m. on Saturday, at the Bartzen Varsity Courts.
UTSA Series History:
The Horned Frogs are a perfect 5-0 vs. the Roadrunners with their last victory coming as a 4-0 sweep in Fort Worth. Their first ever meeting came against was in 1982 when the Frogs charged to a 9-0 win in San Antonio.
Northwestern State History:
A New Look:
The Horned Frogs will begin the 2023 season with three key newcomers. Head Coach Lee Taylor Walker added two key transfers last year. Tiphanie Lemaitre from Ole Miss and Tyler Junior College transfer Destinee Martins. Martins won back-to-back JUCO National Championships at Tyler primarily playing on the No. 1 and No. 2 courts. Lemaitre brings experience at a high level. She has been ranked as high as No. 40 in the women's ITA rankings. She was named to the All-SEC second team and won the ITA southern singles title in 2021. Yu-Chin Tsai is the last and final addition to the roster coming in from Taiwan. She received an ITF junior ranking of No. 126 in 2021. In 2018, Tsai represented her country on the Taiwan Jr. National Team.
Ranked Frogs:
Three Horned Frogs come into the 2023 season ranked among the world's best in the Women's Tennis Association (WTA) Rankings. Tiphanie Lemaitre currently ranks No. 421, the highest of her career. Mercedes Aristegui ranks in the top 1000 in the world at 970. Jade Otway finished as the runner-up at the W15 Wellington in Australia propelling her into world rankings. The sophomore slotted at No. 1054 to round out the Frogs in the WTA rankings.

TCU has two prior matchups with the Demons heading into Saturday's matchups. The first time these two teams met was in 1987 with a TCU coming away with a 9-0 sweep. The Frogs' last win against Northwestern was last season by way of a 4-0 sweep.
