
Alvarado Earns National and Big 12 Accolade

Honor is second in her career
FORT WORTH – TCU women's soccer senior Emily Alvarado was named the Big 12 Goalkeeper of the Week and the United Soccer Coaches Association National Player of the Week for her performance against Texas last week. The Big 12 honor is the second of her career, while the national accolade is her first. She is the second Horned Frog honoree this season in the Big 12.
Alvarado has back-to-back shutouts to open the season. Of the five saves she made, four of them came in the second half. She helped TCU defend 20 Texas shots and four corner kicks in the game.
In the contest, she moved into sixth all-time in minutes played. In her career, she has been in goal 3,838. The shutout was the 15th of her career.
She joins Marz Akins (Freshman of the Week, Sept. 14) as TCU's honorees this season. Alvarado was previously named the Defender of the Week on Sept. 3, 2019.n
The Horned Frogs return to action on Oct. 2 when they host Iowa State at 7 p.m.
