
Akins Earns Big 12 Accolade

Freshman made first career start at Baylor
FORT WORTH – TCU women's soccer defender Marz Akins was named the Big 12 Freshman of the Week for her performance in TCU's double overtime tie at Baylor on Friday night.
In her collegiate debut, Akins played all 110 minutes of a 0-0 tie at Baylor. She helped the Horned Frogs limit Baylor to just nine shots in the game and only four on goal. She was instrumental in defending five Baylor corner kicks, twice clearing the ball out of the attacking zone in the first half.
The Frogs open up the home portion of the 2020 season on Friday against Texas. Match time is set for 7 p.m. at Garvey-Rosenthal Soccer Stadium. The game will be aired on Big 12 Now on ESPN+.
