TCU will face Texas Tech in a nonconference match to start the month of March.
LUBBOCK, Texas – The month of March will kick-off on the road for the TCU women's tennis team as the Horned Frogs travel to Lubbock, Texas to face No. 23 Texas Tech in a nonconference match on Saturday, March 2 at 1 p.m., at the McLeod Tennis Center.
TCU Notables
TCU has spent the last few weeks on the road for matches and dropped a 7-0 decision to No. 11 Ohio State last weekend in a match played in Tempe, Ariz. The Frogs are boasting a 6-0 mark in matches played at home with four of the wins coming against regional opponents.
Freshman Mercedes Aristegui continues to lead the Frogs in singles action with 11 wins on the season with a 7-2 mark in dual matches. Fellow freshmen Kate Paulus and Ellie Douglas are also picking up the singles wins in dual matches with Paulus boasting six wins and Douglas picking up a win in three of the five matches played. In doubles, Chloe Hule and Stevie Kennedy are pairing up for a team best five wins with three of them coming at the No. 3 spot.
Scouting the Red Raiders
Texas Tech enters the weekend after going 2-1 a week ago and a third place finish at the Blue Gray National Tennis Classic. The Red Raiders swept Fresno State, advancing to the semifinals where they dropped a 4-0 decision to No. 13 Oklahoma State. Texas Tech ended the weekend with a 4-2 victory over No. 22 Illinois and now sits at No. 23 in the Oracle/ITA poll. Felicity Maltby and Anto Stoica lead Texas Tech with nine wins in singles action and seven wins in dual matches. Maltby and Nell Miller lead the team with seven wins in doubles while Kennedy Bridgeforth and Lana Rush have a 4-1 record at the No. 2 spot.
All-Time Series
Saturday's match will be the 37th meeting all-time between TCU and Texas Tech with the Frogs leading the all-time series with a 28-8 advantage. This will mark the fourth season that TCU and the Red Raiders will face-off in a nonconference match right before the kick-off to conference season. Texas Tech has taken the win in four of the last five matches played and Saturday's match will be the 15th time the teams have faced off in Lubbock. TCU leads the all-time series in matches played at the McLeod Tennis Center with a 9-5 record.
