TCU returns to action by welcoming UTRGV on Saturday.
FORT WORTH, Texas – After a 10-day break, the TCU women's tennis team returns to action to by welcoming UTRGV on Saturday, Feb. 16 at 1 PM at the Bayard H. Friedman Tennis Center.
Admission is free and fans in attendance can enjoy free pizza courtesy of Buffalo Bros., served in between doubles and singles action.
TCU Notables
TCU is coming off its first road trip of the season where they dropped matches to Texas A&M (4-3) and Rice (6-0). Before the road trip, the Frogs had won five straight matches at home. Freshman Ellie Douglas holds the team's only ranking and sits at No. 90 in the Oracle/ITA singles poll with three wins on the season and one win over a ranked opponent. Fellow freshman Mercedes Aristegui leads the team with 10 wins in singles with a 6-1 mark in dual matches. Chloe Hule and Stevie Kennedy are pacing the Frogs in doubles play with five wins with a 2-1 mark at the No. 2 spot and a 3-1 mark at the No. 3 spot.
Scouting the Vaqueros
UTRGV is coming off its first win of the season as the Vaqueros scored a 4-3 victory over Lamar. The team dropped its first three matches of the season with losses to Sam Houston State (6-1), Baylor (5-2) and Texas A&M Corpus-Christi (5-2). Dominique Ibarra leads the Vaqueros with six wins in singles action including two at the No. 1 position. In doubles, Sandra Putz and Katarina Sasaroga are undefeated in the No. 3 position with a 3-0 mark.
All-Time Series
Saturday's match will be the seventh meeting all-time between TCU and UTRGV and the second season in a row the teams are facing each other. The Frogs hold a perfect 6-0 record in the all-time series with all matches being played in Fort Worth. TCU has only dropped two points in the six matches played with sweeps in five of the matches.
