FORT WORTH, Texas - The No. 22 TCU women's tennis team wrapped-up a three-match road swing on Saturday by dropping a 4-0 decision to No. 8 Texas Tech at the McLeod Tennis Center in Lubbock, Texas.
The Horned Frogs (6-4) faced its third straight top-25 opponent in a one-week time frame and could not overcome a slow start in singles as the Red Raiders (8-3) won the doubles point in a tiebreaker on the last court and then quickly took three singles matches to win the match.
The only win on the day that TCU was able to capture came on court two in doubles as Seda Arantekin and Olaya Garrido-Rivas upset the No. 33 ranked team of Gabriela Talaba and Felicity Maltby, 6-4.
Quotes from the Match
Head Coach Lee Taylor Walker
"The doubles point really put us in a hole today that was too much to get out of. Texas Tech is a very gritty and tough team. It takes a great amount of effort to beat them every time out. We didn't have the full embodiment of our philosophies to get close today. We scheduled these last three matches very intentionally because we believe our team is able to win, not just compete. In a lot of ways, it was good but in many ways it was bad. We are a 20-40 team without playing our best. Our goal is top-16 and bringing a mediocre commitment to our values won't get us there. We need everyone all in."
