
Volleyball Academic All-Big 12 Announced

FORT WORTH, Texas – Seven members of the TCU volleyball team were part of the 62 student-athletes named to the 2017 Academic All-Big 12 Volleyball Team, as announced by the league office on Tuesday.
First team members consist of those who have maintained a 3.20 or better GPA, while the second team selections hold a 3.00 to 3.19 GPA. Ashleigh Martin earned first team honors for the second straight season, while Kaylee Smith was named to the second team for the second consecutive season as well. Five other student-athletes earned the academic honor for the first time in their career with Sarah Langs, Kayla Scheevel and Ashley Waggle earning spots on the first team and Calli Novak and Abigail Buckingham receiving second team honors.
To qualify, student-athletes must maintain a 3.00 GPA or higher either cumulative or the two previous semesters and must have participated in 20 percent of their team's scheduled contests. Freshmen and transfers are not eligible in their first year of academic residence. Senior student-athletes who have participated for a minimum of two years and meet all the criteria except percent of participation are also eligible.
TCU has only three matches remaining in the regular season as they welcome Texas Tech on Wednesday, Nov. 15 at 6 p.m., and Iowa State on Saturday, Nov. 18 at 7 p.m. The Frogs have one remaining road match at Oklahoma on Saturday, Nov. 25.
