The Series
SMU owns a 105-85 lead in the all-time series after posting a 75-70 victory a year ago. Despite the loss, TCU has owned an edge in the series since the breakup of the Southwest Conference in 1996, taking 15 of the last 24 meetings.
We Meet Again
SMU ranks as the most-played game in TCU's program history, as Wednesday's match-up marks the 191st time the two teams have met on the hardwood. Former conference rivals in both the Southwest Conference (1923-96) and WAC (1996-2001), the two squads have played each other at least once in all but two season's since 1921 (2003-04 & 2014-15).
Undefeated Teams
By taking down Arkansas State in its last outing, 77-54, TCU became one of only 12 remaining undefeated teams in the NCAA this season as of this past Saturday night. The other 11 teams are: Villanova, Baylor, Creighton, UCLA, Gonzaga, Butler, Saint Mary's, South Carolina, USC, Notre Dame and Texas A&M-CC.
Receiving Votes
TCU moved into the national spotlight on Monday by receiving votes in both national polls for the first time since 2015. The last time the Horned Frogs were receiving votes in both polls came on Jan. 12, 2015.
Brodziansky = Points
Junior Vladimir Brodziansky went a perfect 7-of-7 from the field in TCU's win over Arkansas State. The Slovakian has now made nine-straight buckets. His last miss came at the 4:45 mark of the first half in the Frogs' Nov. 30 contest against Washington. A year ago, Brodziansky made 14-straight field goals between three games before misfiring.
Building A Bench
TCU has now out-scored its opponent off the bench in the last three games, 124-57. In the last five games alone, the Horned Frogs have outscored the opposition a combined total of 201-78. For the season, the Frogs have outscored the opposition off the bench, 293-129.
It's A Start
By defeating Arkansas State, head coach Jamie Dixon became the first first-year head coach in program history to start his career with a 8-0 record. TCU last started a season 8-0 in 2014-15 when the Horned Frogs went 13-0 in non-conference play. Overall, the 8-0 start marks only the third time in program history that a team has opened its season at 8-0.
Grab The Rock
Junior Kenrich Williams, who recorded his second-straight double-double against Arkansas State Saturday with 15 points and 13 rebounds, posted a career-high 18 rebounds in TCU's 63-59 victory over UNLV. His 18 boards were the most since fellow teammate Karviar Shepherd posted 19 a year ago against Delaware State. His 18 rebounds are the most in a single-game in the Big 12 Conference this season and is tied for the 14th highest in the NCAA this year.
December Numbers
TCU improved to 20-4 during the month of December since 2012 with its 77-54 win over Arkansas State. In the last four years, the Frogs have gone unblemished during the month twice. Jamie Dixon is now 81-11 during the month of December as a head coach.
