Candi Whitaker, Texas Tech Head Coach
Opening Statement:
"I thought rebounding was a big factor in this game. I did not like how we battled on the boards. I think TCU did a great job there. We did not have enough to come in here and get a win. We still have a lot of work to do and can still get better."
Texas Tech senior guard Amber Battle
On losses despite playing well:
"Well I actually don't think I had a good game last game. I don't think it's consistent. But I just try to give as much to my team as I can on the court. "
Raegan Pebley, TCU Head Coach
Opening Statement
"A great basketball game where both teams competed really hard. I think both teams within the game went through a lot of adversity. I think a lot of (Texas Tech head coach) Candi (Whitaker). I think she is doing a great job. I love their system. We are very similar in what we do. But I am just really proud of how our team fought through that adversity."
On Caitlin Diaz:
"I'm really proud of how we did on the boards. That was a big key coming into this game. It's been a big focus in our practice the last couple days. It's a reason I went to Caitlin really early because I could tell in practice she recognized that it's something she wanted to prove that she could bring to our team. It was great to see her produce."
On Amber Battle:
"It was important to make her work. That was part of our game plan. She's a great basketball player and we know that we can't stop her one on one. It was going to be a team effort trying to get her fatigued throughout the game."
TCU junior forward Caitlin Diaz
On game performance:
"I was feeling a little more confident. I knew Coach had told me I needed to go in there, rebound and give a lot of energy and make hustle plays. So I was just listening to her and giving my all."
On confidence:
"I know I had two quick layups from the out of bounds plays which got my confidence up a little bit. And my teammates and coaches always tell me when you are open, just look at the rim and shoot the ball. So that's what I did today."
