One of three Big 12 point guards to receive the recognition
FORT WORTH – TCU and point guard proficiency have become synonymous over the last three seasons, and the connection continued ahead of the 2026-27 campaign.
Jadyn Wooten was cited as a watch list candidate for the Nancy Lieberman Award, marking the third straight season a TCU player has been considered for the accolade.
The Lieberman Award is presented annually to the nation's top point guard. The complete preseason watch list and eventual award recipient are voted on by the Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame and the Women's Basketball Coaches Association (WBCA).
Wooten was one of 20 players tabbed to the watch list. The junior is the fifth Horned Frog to garner Lieberman Award recognition and third under head coach Mark Campbell. All four of Wooten's predecessors are former TCU All-Americans. Wooten joins an exclusive list featuring WNBA standouts Olivia Miles (2026) and Hailey Van Lith (2025) and TCU Letterman's Association Hall of Famers Helena Sverisdottir (2010) and Adrianne Ross (2007, 2008).
The honor marks the first time Wooten, 5-6, has been deemed a Lieberman Award candidate.
She is one of three Big 12 floor generals tabbed to the watch list alongside Liv McGill of Oklahoma State and Kansas' S'Mya Nichols.
Wooten played two seasons for the Cowgirls from 2024-26 before transferring to TCU. She was widely regarded as the best sixth player in the Big 12 last season. Wooten led the league and ranked 12th nationally with a 2.5 assist to turnover ratio in 2025-26. A native of Overland Park, Kansas, Wooten averaged 12.8 points, 5.4 assists and 3.4 rebounds per night across her sophomore season. Wooten and Miles were two of only three players in all of college basketball to put up a stat line of at least 12 points, five assists and three rebounds per game while shooting 49 percent or better from the field.
Her ballhandling and court vision shone through in 2025-26. Wooten closed out the year as one of seven players in the country to record at least 170 assists while maintaining an assist-to-turnover ratio of 2.5 or better. She dished out at least seven assists in 13 games, tied for the 15th most of any D1 hooper. Wooten finished as the Cowgirls' assists leader in 21-of-34 games. She dropped 177 dimes for the year.
Known for her midrange jump shot, Wooten enters her first year as a Horned Frog as a career 47 percent shooter from the field. She led all Big 12 guards and ranked fourth among all players in the conference in field goal percentage last year. Wooten scored in double figures in 25-of-34 games in 2025-26.
Fans are encouraged to participate in fan voting on hoophallawards.com, beginning Friday, Oct. 30. The fan vote counts as one committee vote during the finalist selection process. In late January, the watch list will be narrowed to 10, followed by a final five in late February. The five finalists will be presented to Lieberman and the Basketball Hall of Fame selection committee to determine a winner.
Wooten and TCU open the season at 6:30 p.m. on Nov. 3 against Oral Roberts. TCU will play seven home games in a 15-day span to start the year.
