Women's Tennis Stumbles to No. 10 UVA

FORT WORTH, Texas - In the final match of the 2015 ITA National Indoor Team Championships, the No. 20 TCU women's tennis team stumbled to host and No. 10 Virginia, 4-1, on Sunday in Charlottesville, Va.
The Horned Frogs (4-3) wrapped up competition at the indoor championships at the Boar's Head Sports Club against the Cavaliers (6-2), their fourth straight top-10 opponent in the last week.
In the doubles portion of the match, Virginia was the first team on the board as the No. 11 duo of Skylar Morton and Cassie Mercer upended Sofiko Kadzhaya and Simona Parajova, 6-2.
TCU responded and evened up the doubles fight with a victory on court one, as Seda Arantekin and Stefanie Tan upset No. 22 Stephanie Nauta and Julia Elbaba, 6-3, for the duo's second victory over a ranked opponent this season. The Frogs could not finish out the battle, as Virginia took the match on court three and the doubles point.
The Cavaliers quickly jumped up to a 3-0 lead in the match after claiming wins on courts two and five in singles action, before TCU scored its first point in the match. Arantekin scored a victory at No. 6 singles over Mercer, 6-2, 6-3, to give TCU a point.
Virginia would not allow the Frogs to score again as No. 16 Nauta defeated Sofiko Kadzhaya at No. 3 singles to complete the match victory for the Cavaliers.
TCU will continue action on the road, as the team will travel to California to take on defending NCAA Champion, UCLA on Saturday, Feb. 14, before traveling to Malibu to face Pepperdine on Monday, Feb. 16.
