TCU Drops Matchup with Pepperdine

FORT WORTH, Texas - The No. 17 TCU women's tennis team struggled in the finale of its California road trip with the Horned Frogs dropping a 4-1 upset loss to No. 30 Pepperdine on Monday afternoon in Malibu.
The Horned Frogs (4-5), who were hampered by injuries and played one player short in the match against the Waves (4-2), were able to snag the doubles point but dropped four singles matches as Pepperdine snuck away with the victory.
Simona Parajova was able to return to the doubles lineup after retiring against UCLA and paired up with Sofiko Kadzhaya to take a commanding 6-2 victory at No. 3 doubles. Pepperdine was able to even up the score with a win on court two, but the No. 39 duo of Seda Arantekin and Stefanie were able to wrap up the doubles point for TCU by taking out their opponent at No.1 singles, 6-3, to snag the early 1-0 lead for the Frogs.
Parajova and Kadzhaya picked up their fourth win in doubles this season, while Tan and Arantekin improved to eight wins on the season and three at No. 1 doubles.
The match evened up at the start of singles action with TCU defaulting at No. 6 singles and the Waves kept cruising, only allowing the Frogs to take six games on courts one, two and five to round out the four points needed to win the match.
TCU will return home for its next match and will face No. 59 USF on Friday, Feb. 20 at 5:30 p.m., at the Bayard H. Friedman Tennis Center.
