The Opponent
Delaware State comes into Monday's contest with an 0-12 record after falling at Utah in its last outing, 105-58. Against the Utes, Devin Morgan tallied 14 points on 4-of-9 shooting from the floor. Mrdjan Gasevic carried the load in rebounds, grabbing a team-high six boards.
On the season, DeAndre Haywood is averaging 9.9 points per game and shooting 43 percent from the field. Morgan has also been productive, averaging 9.1 points a contest and 2.2 rebounds in 11 games.
The Series
TCU and DSU will battle for only the second time in program history Monday night. The Horned Frogs lead the all-time series at 1-0 after dropping the Hornets in 1997, 138-75.
50 Or Less
TCU held Bradley in its last outing to only 49 points, marking the second opponent this season the Frogs have held to 50 points or less in a game. In the last four years, TCU has now accomplished that feat 13 times under head coach Trent Johnson.
A Dynamic Duo
Since the start of the month, Malique Trent and Vladimir Brodziansky have scored 162 of TCU's 419 points in December. In the last home outing against Abilene Christian, the sophomore duo combined to score 43 of TCU's 80 points. In all, the duo equaled 54 percent of the Purple and White's total number of points versus ACU. They also dished out five of the Horned Frogs' 16 assists against the Wildcats.
Collins In Double-Figures Equals Victory
Chauncey Collins, who had 14 at Bradley, has filled in nicely for departed all-conference honoree Kyan Anderson so far this season as he has posted back-to-back double-digit outings for the first time in his career, which included a career-high 17 in the season-opener. TCU is now 6-1 all-time when Collins scores in double-figures.
Getting The Ball Down Low
TCU has made it a point this season to get the ball down low. The Frogs have now combined to outscore their last five opponents inside the paint, 168-126. On the season, the Purple and White have outscored the opposition by a total of 360-308 down low, which included a 40-36 advantage versus ACU in their last home game.
In all, TCU has either tied or outscored its opponent down low in all but three games. Two out of those three contests the Frogs lost, falling to Rhode Island and nationally ranked SMU. TCU defeated Bradley.
The Opening Act
TCU's game against ACU marked the first game inside Ed and Rae Schollmaier Arena. Previously known as Daniel-Meyer Coliseum, the facility underwent a $72 million renovation. The first basket in a live game was scored by sophomore Vladimir Brodziansky, while Karviar Shepherd dished out the first assist. TCU opened the game, making nine of its first 10 attempts from the field.
Comparing The Two
A trend has become apparent in TCU's 11 games this season. In the seven wins, the Horned Frogs have gotten to the line 216 times, while shooting almost 70 percent from the charity stripe. In the four losses, TCU has only attempted 81 free throws, connecting on 64 percent of them. The Purple and White have also shared the rock better in the seven wins, tallying 60 more assists in games won.
Mr. Perfection
Against Prairie View A&M, Vladimir Brodziansky had quite the outing, going a perfect 7-for-7 from the field en route to a 16-point showing. He followed that up with a 19-point performance against ACU and a 10-point showing at Bradley. The sophomore ranks No. 3 in the Big 12 Conference and No. 22 in the NCAA in field goal percentage.
Passing The Rock
Malique Trent has carried TCU the last six games, dishing out five or more assists in three out of the last six. In the last six alone, Trent, who totaled four assists in the last home outing versus ACU, is averaging 4.7 assists per game. Rewind to last season and Trent is right around the pace set by former all-conference honoree Kyan Anderson who had totaled 4.6 assists after 11 games. Trent is averaging 3.5 on the year heading into game No. 12.
Grab The Rock
TCU is a perfect 6-0 this season when out-rebounding its opponent. The Frogs are 33-15 all-time under Trent Johnson when out-rebounding the opposition. TCU out-rebounded ACU in its last home outing, 33-32.
Starting Strong
In the first 11 games of the season, TCU has combined to outscore its opponent 90-55 in the first 4 minutes of the game. During that stretch, the Horned Frogs have held the opposition to a 22-for-62 showing from the field.
