The Opponent
Illinois State comes into Wednesday with a 2-3 record having fallen to No. 2 Maryland in its last outing, 77-66. The Redbirds, who led for a majority of the contest, had four players score in double-figures Tuesday night. MiKyle McIntosh carried the load, scoring a team-high 17 points on 5-of-9 shooting. Paris Lee also had a nice night, scoring 15 points, while grabbing five boards.
On the season, Illinois State, who has defeated Morehead State and Houston Baptist, has been led by DeVaughn Akoon-Purcell, who is averaging 15.8 points a contest. The 6-foot-5 guard is the reining MVC Newcomer of the Year and led the Redbirds to an NIT appearance a year ago.

The two teams have never met on the hardwood. TCU is 11-24 all-time against teams from the Missouri Valley Conference.
Parrish Has Perfect Night
Junior Brandon Parrish scored a team-high 13 points against Rhode Island, going a perfect 4-for-4 from the field, including 3-of-3 from long distance. With his 3-for-3 showing from beyond the arc, Parrish has now accomplished that feat three times in his carer, having previously done so at Ole Miss a year ago and versus Baylor his freshman season at the Big 12 Championship. The Arlington native has also now connected on three or more three-pointers in a game 10 times in his career.
In The Final 5 Minutes
In TCU's four games this season, several individuals have stepped up in the last five minutes of a ballgame. Brandon Parrish is a perfect 5-for-5 from the field during that stretch, while senior Devonta Abron is shooting 80 percent from the floor. Newcomer Vladimir Brodziansky has also been rock solid, going 4-of-7 from the field, which is close to 60 percent.
Comparing The Two
A trend has become apparent in TCU's four games this season. In the two wins, the Horned Frogs have gotten to the line 77 times, while shooting 78 percent from the charity stripe. In the two losses, TCU has only attempted 46 free throws, connecting on 72 percent of them. The Purple and White have also shared the rock better in the two wins, tallying 13 more assists in games won.

In the first four outings, TCU has combined to outscore its opponent in second-chance points, 51-39. Against Rhode Island, the Purple and White didn't hold an advantage over their opponent in second-chance points for the first time this year.

Keeping The Streak Alive
Heading into last Saturday's game versus South Dakota State, TCU had won 20-straight non-conference games dating back to 2013-14. The last time the Horned Frogs lost a non-conference tilt prior to falling to SDSU was against Harvard on Nov. 30, 2012 in the Great Alaska Shootout.
