FORT WORTH, Texas - The TCU women's basketball team closed out the non-conference slate in impressive fashion on Saturday evening with a 76-47 rout of Prairie View A&M at Daniel-Meyer Coliseum for its fifth-straight win to improve to 9-3 overall.
Sophomore guard Zahna Medley led a quartet of Horned Frogs in double figures with a game-high 17 points in just 24 minutes, highlighted by a 4-of-8 effort from 3-point range.
Junior forward Chelsea Prince made the most out of her first start since March 7, 2012, pouring in 15 points off a 5-of-8 effort from the field and a 4-of-6 performance from the charity stripe. The Fort Worth native's 15 points were a season high and just one short of her career high set in 2011.
Freshman center Klara Bradshaw nearly registered her first-ever double-double with 11 points and a career-best eight rebounds, while fellow freshman Jada Butts notched a career high for the second-straight game with 11 points to go with six boards and two steals in only 16 minutes.
The Horned Frogs jumped out to a quick 10-2 start fueled by early 3-pointers from Donielle Breaux and Prince in the first three minutes.
TCU churned out 19 points in the opening seven minutes following an old-fashioned 3-point play from Butts and a layup from Prince for a 12-point advantage.
Senior guard Meagan Henson provided a late first-half spark for the Horned Frogs to snap a lull in the action, finding Prince for a baseline drive and lobbing to Caitlin Diaz for an easy bucket in transition before draining a floater of her own to push out to a 33-17 lead.
Medley put an exclamation point on the first half with back-to-back 3-pointers in the final minute as TCU took a 39-19 lead into the break and ended the final six minutes on a 16-4 run.
Medley picked up where she left off to begin the second half, draining her third long-range bucket of the game before converting a layup and the ensuing free throw on the next possession to extend the advantage to 25 points.
The Horned Frogs shot 46 percent (26-of-56) from the field and connected on 6-of-15 attempts from 3-point range while going 18-of-26 (69 percent) from the free-throw line.
TCU's defense continued to shine, limiting the Lady Panthers to a 30-percent effort (17-of-56) from the field while forcing 22 turnovers.
TCU opens Big 12 action at 7 p.m., on Thursday, Jan. 2, when it plays host to 10th-ranked Iowa State.
