TCU Head Coach Jim Christian
On his team's defensive effort:
"It was without question the best defensive effort we've put in all year. We deflected so many passes and we guarded the ball better than we guarded it all year. They are one of the best teams in the country for a reason. You have to play tough and smart to beat a great team like New Mexico and I thought we did that for forty minutes tonight."
On his team's overall play:
"This is as hard as any team I've been around has played in one night. Even when they made runs at us, we kept our composure. We kept making plays and we hit the floor. Everybody has to hit the floor and make plays to beat a great team like this."
On the play of forward Amric Fields:
"I was proud of Amric, because we've been disappointed and he's been disappointed with his lack of aggressiveness and tonight he made some aggressive plays he doesn't ordinarily make. He got to some rebounds, shot the ball with confidence and had two steals. Those back-to-back steals he had toward the end really changed the complexion of the game."
On the fan support:
"I'd be remiss if I didn't thank our crowd. It gets loud in here when people come and I'm hoping we have a sellout for the San Diego State game as we say goodbye to our three seniors."
TCU Sophomore Forward Amric Fields
On his team's success:
"At this time last year, we were losing ten straight games. It's unreal how it can turn around in a year as long as you buy into the system and everybody plays hard."
On his individual performance:
"I owe it all to my teammates. They never stopped believing in me. Even when my shot is off, they're saying "shoot" and telling me to stay confident. You can catch fire in two minutes and as long as you play hard on the defensive end, anything can happen."
TCU Senior Guard Hank Thorns
On his team's success:
"If we keep working hard, we'll get there. We've got one more on the road and we have struggled on the road. We've got to come to practice tomorrow and be focused. Then we've got San Diego State on Senior Night and we can't let that one get away. I hope we get another victory and get to storm the court again."
New Mexico Head Coach Steve Alford
On the Lobos' play in the second half:
"Our second half mimicked the San Diego State and UNLV games, where I thought those second halves were really poor. This second half was one of the poorest ones we played in a really long time."
On playing TCU at Daniel-Meyer Coliseum:
"I thought [TCU] played really well. We just played two teams undefeated at home in conference play. You have to give them a lot of credit because they are playing at a real high level right now. That win on the road at Air Force helped them momentum-wise and they then played really well at home. We will end up at 4-3 on the road [in MW play], which is best in the league, and we just have to go home and take care of business."
On the key to TCU's success:
"They made 3's. Williams is playing much better now than he did the last time. He got them going with a lot of 3's, and the difference I think is going on the road or playing at home."
On the upcoming Mountain West Championships:
"I think it's a toss-up [on who will win the MWC tournament]. That league tournament is going to be a lot of fun."
On the importance of winning at home to end the season:
"It's a tough road. We were playing awfully well going into this road trip and then we didn't play well on the road trip. But, the two teams we played were undefeated at their buildings in league play. Like I said, we have won four road games, and nobody else in the league is going to win more [in MW play] than we will. Now it is about going home and taking care of those games. We've only lost one [at home] and we can't afford to lose any more of those."
