ISU controlled the play in the opening set, never trailing as it got out to an 11-8 lead. TCU got within two at 12-10, but the Cyclones put the set out of reach with eight of the next 10 points for a 20-12 lead. The Frogs tried to close the gap late, but fell 25-16 in set one.
Sophomore Stephanie Holland had three kills on nine attacks in the set, while Sloane Sunstrum, Sutton Sunstrum and Yvonne Igodan had two kills apiece. Sutton Sunstrum led the Frogs defensively with eight digs.
TCU raced out to a 10-3 lead in the second set, aided by two Igodan kills and an Igodan block. The Frogs kept the lead until 22-all, after the Cyclones chipped away at the lead for almost the length of the set.
The Frogs fought out set points at 23-24 and 24-25, but were ultimately not able to get over the hump as the Cyclones took a 2-0 lead with a 27-25 set two win. Igodan and Holland had three more kills each in the set and Sutton Sunstrum did the defensive work once again with six digs.
In the third and final set, TCU took an early 4-2 lead, but a 5-0 Cyclone gave ISU a 7-4 lead and the Frogs were never able to recover. TCU got within three on two occasions, but Iowa State closed out a 25-17 set three win and 3-0 match win.
Sloane Sunstrum had two kills in the final set for the Frogs, who hit just .031 in the final set. Sutton Sunstrum led the Frogs in kills for the third time in match with seven digs, while Megan Munce added five assists.
Overall, Holland paced TCU with seven kills as Sloane Sunstrum and Igodan had six each. Sutton Sunstrum eclipsed the 20-dig mark for the second time in the last three matches with 21. Mattie Burleson added a game-high six blocks for TCU, who had a 9.0-7.5 blocking edge.
