FORT WORTH--TCU wraps up its pre-holiday schedule Sunday at 1 p.m., when it plays host to Sam Houston State at Daniel-Meyer Coliseum. The squad, which looks to move to 5-0 against in-state opponents this season, will not play again for 11 days until a Dec. 31 road trip to Houston.
The Frogs bring a 7-3 overall record into Sunday's contest after posting their biggest win of the season last weekend against No. 5 Texas A&M. It marked the fourth victory in program history over a team ranked among the top-5 squads in at least one of the national polls.
Several activities surround Sunday's "Santa's Sunday Doubleheader" at the DMC. In between the men's and women's games, the Lady Frogs will sign autographs and kids will have their opportunity to take photos with Santa Claus. Hot dogs will be available for $1. The TCU Athletics Department and Cook Children's Hospital are also hosting a Toy Drive. Fans who bring a new, unwrapped toy will receive a free voucher for the next TCU hoops doubleheader, scheduled for Jan. 2.
Sunday's game can be heard live on the radio throughout the Metroplex on 88.7 KTCU-FM with Jeff Williams (play-by-play) and Jeff Lewis (color) calling the action. A link to an Internet radio feed will be available on game day via GoFrogs.com, in addition to a link to live statistics. The game will also feature a live on-line video stream through the All-Access section of TCU's web site.
FROG QUICK NOTES
-Counting Sunday's contest, TCU will play only one game in a 19-day stretch between its Dec. 12 win over Texas A&M and a Dec. 31 game at Houston.
-TCU brings a 12-game home winning streak into Sunday, dating back to a Jan. 13, 2009 loss to BYU. The school record of 19 straight games was set in 2006-07.
-TCU is 4-0 so far this season against in-state teams. The Frogs' best-ever season record with at least five games against Texas schools was 5-0 in 2001-02.
-Helena Sverrisdottir needs only four rebounds to reach 500 for her career, 45 points for 1,000 and 12 assists for 300.
-TK LaFleur is only 84 points shy of 1,000 for her career.
-Starr Crawford paces the MWC in rebounding (10.4 rpg) and has led TCU in the category in all but one game this season.
-Crawford entered Monday as one of only 27 players in the nation, and one of only two freshmen (also Howard's Saadia Doyle), averaging a double-double.
-TCU has outrebounded the opponent in six of 10 games, compared to only six times in all of 2008-09.
-TCU leads the MWC in scoring (72.4 ppg) and FT shooting (75.7%).
-TCU has made at least six 3-pointers in each game this season and owns streaks of 45 straight games with three or more (since March 5, 2008) and 136 straight with at least one (since March 20, 2004).
TWO FROGS SET FOR GRADUATION
TCU will see two of its seniors receive degrees during Winter Commencement this weekend. Chantelle John and Eboni Mangum, both of whom transferred to TCU prior to the 2007-08 academic year, are set to graduate.
Both Frogs will receive their degrees in communications.
SCOUTING THE SAM HOUSTON STATE BEARKATS
Sam Houston State, 3-5 on the season, enters today having dropped its last two decisions on the road. The Bearkats own wins over Centenary, Grambling and Jackson State.
Head coach Brenda Welch-Nichols directs a team that returns four starters and the top five scorers from last season's squad that finished seventh in the Southland Conference standings. As a team, the Kats average scoring 67.6 ppg while shooting 39.9% from the field this fall.
Three Kats have posted double-figure scoring averages thus far, led by guard Brittany Brooks (13.3 ppg). Guard Ray Alexander (12.3 ppg) and forward Whitney Smith (11.6 ppg) follow close behind Brooks on the team's scoring chart, while Smith leads the team in rebounds with a 7.9-board average. Alexander paces SHSU in assists (3.9 apg).

LAST TIME WE MET: TCU 89, SHSU 75
FORT WORTH (Nov. 23, 2008)—No. 24 TCU used a balanced scoring effort to run its season record to 4-0 with an 89-75 win over Sam Houston State at Daniel-Meyer Coliseum. Each of the 11 Lady Frogs who played totaled at least three points, with six players scoring at least eight.
The victory marked head coach Jeff Mittie's 200th at TCU. Also with the win, TCU joined the 2003-04 Frog squad as the only teams in program history with four straight wins to open a season. The 2003-04 team began its season 6-0.
TCU ran out to a 20-point lead at the half, 44-24, before joining SHSU in a shootout in the second period. The Bearkats totaled 51 points after halftime to the Frogs' 45. While SHSU recorded eight more field goals in the period, TCU did its damage at the free-throw line, where the squad went 22-of-28 in the half for a 30-of-39 effort for the game.
Three Frogs reached double figures, including Helena Sverrisdottir, who led the team for the third consecutive outing with 17 points. Another sophomore, Emily Carter, set a then-career high with 15 points while going 4-of-8 from the field and 5-of-6 from the free-throw line. Carter added five boards. Eboni Mangum also had a solid shooting performance, as she went 4-of-5 on field goals and 4-of-4 on free throws to account for 12 points.
CLEANING UP IN THE HOME STATE
The Frogs are 4-0 this season against teams from the state of Texas. The program's best-ever season record with at least five games against Texas schools was 5-0 in 2001-02. Only three times has TCU ever gone undefeated in such games:
2001-02: 5-0
2005-06: 3-0
2006-07: 4-0
TCU plays seven games in 2009-10 against teams from the state of Texas, its most in a single season since 2003-04, when it had eight such matchups.
