Horned Frogs send four players to San Francisco
FORT WORTH – TCU men's tennis continues its fall season with a trip to the heart of San Francisco to compete in the Battle in the Bay Classic from Thursday-Sunday at the California Tennis Club.
Four Horned Frogs are trekking west for the ITA-sanctioned invitational. TCU will be represented in the Bay Area by Matthieu Chambonniere, Maximus Dussault, Albert Pedrico and Kaj Quirijns.
Now in its 17th year, the Battle in the Bay Classic awards a main draw wild card onto an ATP Challenger event to the singles champion.
TCU senior Duncan Chan was the wild card recipient in 2025. He swept the singles and doubles titles, becoming the first Horned Frog to triumph in both disciplines. Chan is one of three Horned Frogs to capture the singles championship. Fellow All-Americans Alex Rybakov and Jake Fearnley claimed the crown in 2018 and 2022.
Dating back to 2019, TCU has advanced at least one player to the last eight of the singles bracket in six straight seasons. The Horned Frogs have accumulated a 31-14 main draw singles record at the tournament since 2022.
All four Frogs will play singles and doubles and are guaranteed two matches in each discipline. Chambonniere and Dussault will partner in doubles as will Pedrico and Quirijns.
Chambonniere and Dussault have competed to a 5-2 record as partners. The duo opened the 2026-27 season with a semifinal showing at the Milwaukee Tennis Classic on Sept. 11-13. Chambonniere and Dussault then put themselves in position for a national ranking via a trio of wins in the qualifying rounds of the ITA All-American Championships the following week. They earned a notable three-set victory over No. 62 Julian Alonso and Maxime Dubouch of Georgia.
Pedrico and Quirijns enjoyed a run to the semifinals of the UTR Midland Invitational in September.
Pedrico and Dussault are two of TCU's seven nationally-ranked singles players. Pedrico was tabbed No. 93 in the preseason ITA rankings. Dussault checked in at No. 111.
Pedrico anchored the No. 5 spot in the TCU lineup for the second straight season as a sophomore in 2025-26. He garnered NCAA D1 Men's Tennis Championship All-Tournament Team honors at the position.
Dussault delivered a strong start to his sophomore campaign in the Midwest, finishing as the runner-up in singles at the Milwaukee Tennis Classic, the same tournament he won in 2025.
A transfer from Ole Miss, Chambonniere has amassed 91 combined victories across his two-plus seasons on the collegiate hardcourts. The Paris native leads TCU with 10 combined victories thus far. Chambonniere won four times in qualifying singles at the ITA All-American Championships, getting within a victory of the main draw. He capped the run with his highest-ranked career win, taking out No. 77 Will Manning of NC State in three sets.
Quirijns is making his 2026-27 season debut. One of two TCU seniors, Quirijns has been a fixture in the early-season slate for TCU. He has won 40 combined matches in fall invitationals over the past three years, including 22 in doubles.

Noting the Horned Frogs
-
TCU returns seven letter winners from its 2025-26 roster, six of whom have at least three years of eligibility remaining.
-
Seven Horned Frogs combined to garner 11 preseason ITA rankings, the third-most of any Division I program. TCU was also one of only three teams to produce a preseason top-10 singles player, doubles pair and newcomer.
-
On Sunday, Roger Pascual etched his name in college tennis history, winning the 2026 ITA All-American Championships singles title. He is the first TCU player to win a national championship in singles. The junior also became the seventh Horned Frog to secure a national title in either discipline.
-
Pascual's achievement marked the fifth time in the last six seasons TCU has won a team or individual national championship. Lui Maxted and Pedro Vives captured the 2024 NCAA Doubles Championship. TCU notched back-to-back ITA Indoor National titles in 2022 and 2023 and won the NCAA National Championship in 2024.
-
TCU was well-represented by a pair of student-athletes on the international stage in September. ITA preseason No. 4 newcomer Jamie Mackenzie enjoyed a semifinal run at the US Open junior championships. On Sept. 18-19, Duncan Chan had the honor of competing for Canada in a Davis Cup tie, leading his home country to a victory over France and a berth in November's Davis Cup finals.
-
Cooper Woestendick gave TCU its first title of the 2026-27 campaign in the Horned Frogs' fall season opener, winning the Milwaukee Tennis Classic.
-
TCU has competed to a 150-30 record over the last six seasons. The Horned Frogs' 150 wins since 2021 rank second nationally.
-
The Horned Frogs have challenged for six of the last 10 indoor or outdoor national championships dating back to 2022. TCU has advanced to the semifinals or farther eight times in that span.
-
TCU head coach David Roditi is one of only two active D1 head coaches who has won both an ITA Indoor National Championship and NCAA Championship and also coached an NCAA individual champion.
-
Roditi has led TCU to 330 dual victories across his 16-season run at the helm of his alma mater. He trails only his own head coach, Tut Bartzen, who won 507 matches from 1974-1998.
-
Under Roditi's direction, TCU has notched 12 consecutive year-end ITA top-10 team rankings, a streak unmatched by any D1 program. The Horned Frogs have cracked the top-five of the final rankings in six straight seasons, most recently garnering the No. 4 ranking at the conclusion of the 2026 dual season. TCU has additionally boasted a top-10 ITA team ranking in 73 consecutive polls dating back to March 10, 2020.
-
The Horned Frogs have sent 12 players to the NCAA Individual Championships over the last four seasons. Pedro Vives and Maxted won the 2024 NCAA Doubles Championship to give the program its second NCAA individual title. Among returning players, Duncan Chan and Albert Pedrico both qualified in 2025.
