Birdied six of her final 11 holes en route to a five-under 67
DALLAS – TCU had the best player on the course in the second round of the Big 12 Championship on Friday at Dallas Athletic Club.
Kirstin Angosta signed for a five-under 67 and helped TCU hold on to seventh place in the 14-team, 54-hole affair.
Angosta, from nearby Coppell, Texas, notched the best round of any competitor in the field thus far. She tied for the third-lowest 18-hole total in the 30-year history of the event. Angosta matched Sabina Pena, who posted an identical score at the 2016 Big 12 Championship, for the TCU low round record in Big 12 Championship play.
The junior birdied six of her final 11 holes, including four on the second nine. She closed consecutive birdies on holes seven and eight to post a one-under 34 at the turn. Angosta then rattled off back-to-back birdies twice more, first at the 11th and 12th pins and later on holes 16 and 17.
Angosta lowered her score to two-under 142 and joined a four-way tie for fifth with the performance. She ascended 26 spots up the leaderboard. Angosta enters Saturday's final round with a puncher's chance at a medal. She trails co-leaders Ellie Bushnell (Oklahoma State) and Patience Rhodes (Arizona State) but two strokes.
Her efforts sparked a strong finish to the round for TCU. The Horned Frogs collectively carded a three-under 145 buoyed by nine birdies on the second nine.
TCU finished four strokes over par – a four-shot improvement from round one – to bring its tournament total to 12-over 588. A two-stroke swing is all that separates TCU from sixth place and the Frogs will start round three within seven shots of a top-five finish.
The day ultimately belonged to Angosta, who set TCU's season record and matched her personal best benchmark for low-18 vs. par. Angosta recorded her ninth par-or-better round of the 2025-26 campaign and 29th of her career.
She was flanked on the back-nine surge by Gracie McGovern, who closed birdie on her final three holes. Sofia Barroso Sá and Camille Min-Gaultier each pitched in a birdie of their own. Sofie Dimitrova parred her final eight holes.
Barroso Sá is knocking on the door of earning All-Big 12 Championship Team honors for the third time in four years. She began the day tied for second and dipped to T13 at one stroke over par after shooting a 75. The top 12 players including ties garner all-tournament recognition. TCU's lone senior, Barroso Sá is plus-one (145) and two shots shy of the top 10 of the leaderboard.
McGovern and Min-Gaultier matched Barroso Sá's second round scorecard. The sophomore duo are tied for 37th and 42nd, respectively.
Dimitrova is tied for 52nd at 10 strokes over par. She finished with a 76 in round two.
TCU again struggled on the par-35 front nine. The Horned Frogs were six strokes over par at the midpoint of the round.
The Horned Frogs are paired with No. 26 Baylor and No. 37 Kansas for round three and are among the first groups to go off on Saturday. TCU will tee off on the first nine in 10-minute intervals beginning at 8 a.m.
The final round will air live on ESPN+.
