Horned Frogs finish ahead of three nationally ranked opponents
DALLAS – TCU put a bow on the regular season with an eighth-place finish at the Big 12 Championship on Saturday at Dallas Athletic Club.
Kirstin Angosta tied for 10th at one stroke over par (217) to garner All-Big 12 Tournament accolades.
She is the second TCU golfer in as many seasons and seventh overall to receive the recognition.
Angosta began the day T5 and two strokes back of the lead at two-under 142. She shot a 75 in round three.
She notched her sixth career top-10 and first of the season. Angosta has now turned in a top-25 in four of her last five starts.
TCU finished 23-over (296-292-299 = 887) and placed eighth in the 14-team field.
The Horned Frogs drew the first tee times and began the day in sole possession of seventh place. TCU tallied 14 birdies and ascended into sixth through 17 completed holes. The consistency unraveled on 18, where the Frogs collectively picked up eight strokes and dropped two spots on the leaderboard.
The highwater mark of the morning came from an unexpected source.
Yvette O'Brien, who travelled east as a substitute, was thrust into action after 2025 All-American Camille Min-Gaultier was forced to withdraw due to a back injury.
Not only did O'Brien turn in a countable score, the freshman delivered TCU's low round of the final 18. O'Brien, from Greenwich, Connecticut, signed for a two-under 70. She bagged four birdies in a five-hole sequence following the turn, including three straight from holes 13-15, and was three strokes under par on the back nine.
O'Brien recorded her fifth career round of par or better and matched her collegiate personal best for low-18 vs. par. She was one of three Horned Frogs alongside Angosta and Sofia Barroso Sá, who finished 28th (+6, 222) to post a sub-par round.
TCU, tabbed 41st in the final set of Scoreboard rankings in the regular season, placed ahead of No. 29 Arizona, No. 37 Kansas and No. 38 Kansas State.
No. 25 Iowa State won the tournament with a score of six-under 856. Mila Jurnie (UCF) and Nichakorn Pinprayoon (Iowa State) finished as co-champions at eight-under 208.
The Horned Frogs now await their assignment for the NCAA Regional Championships, which take place from May 11-13 across six sites. The complete NCAA Tournament field will be unveiled at 3 p.m. CT on Wednesday on the GOLF Channel.
