Horned Frog swimmer will compete on ultimate stage
ATLANTA – A representative from the TCU swimming and diving program will get the chance to compete at the highest collegiate level, as Nina Vadovicova will take her talents to Atlanta, Georgia, for the NCAA Championships, running March 18-21 at McAuley Aquatic Center.
The Selpice, Slovakia, native will swim in the 100 breast and 200 breast at the meet. The 100 breast will commence on Thursday, March 19, and the 200 breast will start the day after on Friday, March 20. The prelims on each day will begin at 9 a.m., and finals will start at 5 p.m.
Vadovicova earned a bid to the 200 breast after posting a seed time of 2:08.60 – a mark that is good enough for 28th nationally. At the Big 12 Championships, Vadovicova threw down a 2:09.47 to earn silver in the event.
The junior was also invited to compete in the 100 breast at the NCAA Championships, as Vadovicova earned a qualifying time of 1:00.15 for the discipline.
This marks the first time a female swimmer from TCU has qualified for the NCAA Championships since 2012 when Sabine Rasch did so. Rasch closed one of the finest seasons in TCU swimming history that season, setting TCU records in the 50 free, 100 free and 200 free and becoming the first woman since 1996 to represent the Horned Frogs at the NCAA meet.
