
Horton Sets School Record, Frogs Capture Three Medals on Day One of Big 12 Championships

Horned Frogs conclude first day of competition
GREENSBORO, N.C. – A total of three medals were secured by the TCU swimming and diving team on the first day of the Big 12 Championships.
TCU representatives tallied two silver medals and one bronze medal during the first day of competition. Both the men's team diving event and the women's team diving event placed second, while the men's 200 medley relay came in third.
In the morning time trials, Peter Horton became the first swimmer in TCU history to go sub-43 in the 100 free en route to a new program record of 42.49.
The first medal of the meet was notched by Odessa Kack, Leah Fletcher and Eszter Kovacs in team diving, as the trio had a total of 312.25. Bryn James, David Ekdahl and Elliott Dillon scored a total of 346.85 points to come in second in team diving and grab silver.
In the 200 medley relay, the quartet of Edgar Cicanci, Colin Clough, Lior Mizrahi and Peter Horton secured a bronze medal after clocking a collective 1:25.06. This mark improves on the squad's previous personal-best mark and
The women's side also saw a new top-10 effort, as Paige Taber, Nina Vadovicova, Aubrey Finn and Molly Cullen threw down a 1:39.78 to capture the fifth-quickest time in TCU history.
In the men's 800 free relay, Filip Suchanski, Viktor Hristov, Luka Cavic and Aaron Wilmes swam a 6:23.73 to post the third-fastest time in school history for the event. The women would also land inside the top-10, as Avery Dillon, Taylor Steelman, Hannah Wachenforder and Sydney Inman threw down a 7:17.86 to grab the seventh-fastest time in TCU history.
Dillon's opening swim of 1:47.10 in the 800 free relay was good enough to improve on her previous personal best and second-quickest mark in program history.
During the morning session TCU saw a pair of top-10 times posted with one of those setting a new school record. Horton was the star of the morning, setting a new program record of 42.49 in the 100 free. Wachendorfer would also manage to break into the top-10 on the women's side, pacing to a 50.12 to come in 10th in program history.
Nick Rozenberg set a new personal-best mark in the 50 free time trial, touching the wall in 20.45.
