Horned Frogs set for conference championship meet
LAWRENCE, Kan. – TCU track and field is set for the 2025 Big 12 Outdoor Championships hosted by Kansas from May 15-17 at Rock Chalk Park.
All 16 teams in the conference will come together to compete in the three-day championship meet. The Horned Frogs look to build off a strong indoor campaign which featured the best women's finish since joining the conference and the highest men's finish (eighth) since 2021.
Last year, the TCU women finished fifth outdoors, their best team result in school history. They'll look to top that mark again this weekend as they head into the championship meet with plenty of momentum. In TCU's 12 years in the Big 12 conference, 20 Frogs have been crowned individual champions, including each of the past two winners in the women's javelin throw.
TCU's women have been ranked inside the top 25 of the USTFCCCA National Track & Field Rating Index for the entire outdoor season, including six different event groups ranked in the top 25. They currently sit at No. 15 heading into the postseason. Individually, the Frogs boast 16 top 10 times in the Big 12, including seven in the top 25 nationally led by senior Iyana Gray and Bowerman watch list member Indya Mayberry. On the men's side, TCU has 10 top 10 performances in the conference, featuring a four top 25 times in the country.
This season, TCU has seen a combined 11 school records fall. Sophomore hurdlers Amelliah Birdow and Jayden Douglas each lowered their own top times in the record books, while javelin thrower Irene Jepkemboi also took down her own mark and set a new Kenyan national record in the event. The women have also seen school records fall in the 4x100m, 4x200m and Sprint Medley relay.
Distance runner Graydon Morris added the 10,000m school record to his name this spring along with lowering his own 5,000m mark. His senior teammate Stone Burke also etched his name in the history books with the top 3,000m steeplechase time by a Frog. Lastly, Ben Kirbo vaulted his way to a new school record, clearing 5.47m in the pole vault last month and freshman javelin thrower toppled the best mark in TCU history with his first collegiate throw (75.10m).
Action at the championship meet begins on Thursday, May 15, and runs through Saturday, May 17. The full meet schedule can be found here.
