
Mayberry Named Big 12 Championship High Point Performer

Freshman sweeps 60m and 200m; Frogs win five individual conference titles
LUBBOCK, Texas – TCU track and field's Indya Mayberry was named 2025 Big 12 Indoor Championship Women's High Point Performer as the Horned Frogs won five events on the final day of the conference championship meet at the Texas Tech Sports Performance Center.
It marked the best finish for the TCU women in school history at the Big 12 Indoor Championships (T-5, 55 points) and the highest since 2021 for the men (eighth, 45 points).
Mayberry led the women, sweeping the 60m and 200m sprints. The Forth Worth native ran a 7.18 in the 60m final, winning gold by one-hundredth of a second. She came back just over two hours later and completed the double, this time leaving no doubt with a dominant 22.42 in the 200m.
Amelliah Birdow and Tabitha Ngao also won Big 12 titles in the 600y and 1000m, both in school-record-breaking fashion. Birdow posted a 1:19.02 in the 600y to stand atop the podium, and Ngao led the 1000m from start to finish to grab the crown in 2:46.31.
For the men, Llyod Frilot stormed back to win the 800m title in 1:47.52. The senior dug deep on the final lap and made a big move to take the lead in the final straight away.
Kashie Crockett and Giovouni Henry also won bronze medals for the men. Crockett finished second in his heat and third overall in the 200m, while Henry snagged third in the 600y dash.
The day started with Yannik Knobloch breaking the school record in the men's heptathlon with 5,400 points. The freshman's mark was good for eighth overall, earning him a spot on the podium.
In the women's 60m hurdles, Amari Kiluvia earned a point for the Frogs and a spot on the podium with an eighth-place finish. Moments later, freshman London Tucker joined Mayberry on the podium in the 60m final, running a 7.32 to place eighth.
Destin Drummond and Dominic Byles joined their teammate Henry on the 600y podium. They placed sixth and seventh, respectively.
Junior Samarra Monrroy represented TCU in the 400m final. She added two points to the women's team total with a seventh-place finish.
Mid-year enrollees Anastacia Gonzales and Mohammed Kowa made an instant impact in their first conference championship meet with the Frogs. Running the 1000m, Gonzales finished seventh, behind her teammate Ngao in the final, and Kowa also placed seventh for the men.
The defending indoor 200m champion, Iyana Gray, competed in the event final. She posted a 23.46 to place seventh and stood on the podium with Mayberry, passing the torch to her teammate.
Freshman triple jumper Jamitrius Jessie made some noise in his Big 12 Indoor debut. The Cypress, Texas, native leaped 14.97m (49 1-½) to secure fifth overall.
TCU capped off the night with a pair of podium finishes from the men's and women's 4x400m relays. The women grabbed fourth overall in 3:34.89, while the men placed seventh in 3:07.47.
