Horned Frog sprinters set for national championship meet
FORT WORTH –TCU's Kashie Crockett and Indya Mayberry will travel to Virginia Beach, Va., this weekend to represent the Horned Frogs at the 2025 NCAA Division I Track and Field Indoor Championships. The meet will be held at the Virginia Beach Sports Center March 14-15.
The sprinter duo will race among the fastest in the nation this weekend. The two-day championship meet begins with prelims on Friday, with the top eight finishers advancing to Saturday's finals. TCU is looking for its first indoor national champion since 2016 when Ronnie Baker won the 60m crown.
Crockett qualified for his first NCAA Indoor Championships after representing TCU last outdoor season at the national meet. At the Big 12 Championships, he turned in a career-best time of 20.55, the second-fastest in school history, before coming back the next day to win bronze in the 200m. This season, his time ranks 15th in the country.
Mayberry has burst onto the national scene just months into the start of her collegiate career. Earlier this month, she was named Big 12 Performer of the Year and Outstanding Freshman to go along with her High Point Performer honors from the indoor conference meet. The Fort Worth native swept the 60m and 200m sprints to earn a pair of gold medals.
This season, Mayberry has rewritten the TCU record books, running a school record 7.11 (converted to 7.13 for altitude) in the 60m at the Corky Classic in her collegiate debut. Her time ranks No. 23 in collegiate history and is the third-fastest ever by a freshman.
At the New Mexico Collegiate Classic, Mayberry broke the 200m school record with a 22.41 (converted to 22.48 for altitude). It is the third-fastest mark in the country this season and the eighth-best in collegiate history.
