Frogs start off NCAA Championships strong
VIRGINIA BEACH, Va. – TCU's Indya Mayberry advanced to the finals in both of her events, and Kashie Crockett earned All-American honors on the first day of the 2025 NCAA Division I Track and Field Indoor Championships on Friday night.
Competing against the top collegiate runners in the country, TCU's sprint duo got off to a strong start at the championship meet. Just a freshman, Mayberry is in the hunt for two national titles, advancing to the finals in the 60m and 200m. She looks to be the first Horned Frog to win an indoor national title since 2016 when Ronnie Baker won the men's 60m crown.
Mayberry overcame a slow start in the 60m, racing back to win her heat with a facility record 7.12. Her mark was bested in the second heat by Georgia's Kaila Jackson just minutes later, slotting her into the second fastest time of the afternoon and, more importantly, sending her through to Saturday's final.
A little over an hour later, Mayberry posted the fastest time of the day in the 200m. She threw down a blistering 22.50 to win her heat, break the facility record and take the top spot heading into the event final.
Running in the third heat of the men's 200m, Crockett crossed the line third with a time of 20.81. The 2025 Big 12 bronze medalist finished 11th overall, missing the final by 0.11 seconds. His impressive indoor season came to a close with Second Team All-American honors.
Mayberry will hunt for a national title on Saturday, March 15. She'll race the 60m at 2:10 p.m. CT and the 200m at 2:50 p.m.
