
James Places Fourth on Platform, TCU Wraps up Texas Diving Invitational

Sophomore’s performance highlights three-day diving competition
AUSTIN, Texas – The TCU diving squad wrapped up its three-day venture to Austin for the Texas Diving Invitational on Saturday afternoon at Lee and Joe Jamail Texas Swimming Center. Bryn James had the best performance of the week for the Horned Frogs in the very final event, placing fourth on platform.
The sophomore scored a 346.40. On his fifth dive, James scored a 77.55 on a back 1 1/2 somersault 3 1/2 twist free that would propel him through the field of divers and lead the charge to his fourth-place result.
Overall for the competition, TCU earned five Zone cuts. Alongside James' standout performance on platform, Elliott Dillon and Oliver Cazaly secured Zone marks on 1-meter, while David Ekdahl and Cazaly earned posted cuts on 3-meter.
The Frogs started out competition on Thursday with women's 3-meter and men's 1-meter. Emma Larcada Herrera posted the best result for TCU on the women's side, scoring a 263.45. Dillon had a 305.65 on 1-meter to round out the first day of competition.
On day two, the events were swapped on both sides. Larcada Herrera would once again notch the best result of a Frog, earning a 250.75 on 1-meter. Lauren Cey finished closely behind her, posting a 245.35.
Cazaly would become the first TCU representative to make a final on Friday night, as the senior had a 359.25 to come in seventh in the 3-meter prelims and book his spot in the evening portion. In the finals, Cazaly had a 364.15 to place sixth.
Closing out the events on the final day, Cey, Leah Fletcher and Eszter Kovacs competed on platform for the Frogs. Alongside James on the men's side was Dillon, who scored a 274.05.
Barrett Jacoby, Odessa Kack and Jordyn Warner also represented TCU during the Texas Diving Invitational.

The TCU swimming and diving team will be back in action next week, as the Frogs head to Columbia, Missouri, for the Mizzou Invite, taking place Nov. 20-22.
