
Nine Horned Frogs Advance to Finals

Benjamin Kirbo, Emma Seetoo and Jaren Holmes notch podium finishes on Day One
LUBBOCK, Texas – TCU wrapped up the first day of competition at the Big 12 Indoor Championships on Friday in Lubbock, Texas.
Nine Horned Frogs punched their ticket to Saturday's finals. Additionally, three individuals already claimed a spot on the podium on the first day.
Lloyd Frilot clocked the winning prelims time in the 800m with his personal-best 1:49.06. It was Frilot's Big 12 Indoor Championship debut and the fifth-fastest indoor mark in TCU history.
In the women's 200m, Iyana Gray clocked a 23.10 to finish third overall in the prelims and advance to the finals. Gray also earned a spot in the 60m finals after finishing seventh in the prelims with her time of 7.27.
Rylan Engels recorded a huge personal-best – from 2:56.89 to 2:47.78 – to break the school record in the 1000m. She finished fourth overall in the prelims to advance to the finals. Joining her in the 1000m final is Tabitha Kalunde Ngao who took sixth with her time of 2:48.67.
In the men's pole vault, Benjamin Kirbo continued his strong sophomore campaign by finishing fifth with his height of 5.33m (17-5.75). Also finishing fifth was Kashie Crockett in the 200m prelims. His time of 20.73 was good for a trip to the finals.
TCU will be represented on both sides of the 600y finals. David Seete (1:09.31) finished sixth in the prelims while Jasmin Muhammad-Graham (1:22.11) took seventh on the women's side. Ryan Martin claimed a spot in the 1000m finals with his seventh-place prelims time of 2:25.00. Teanna Harlin's time of 23.24 earned her a sixth-place finish in the 200m prelims and a trip to the finals.
In the women's DMR, the team of London Culbreath, Kelaiah Daniyan, Sasha Crawford and Mckenzie Bailey ran the second-fastest indoor time in school history and finished seventh with their time of 11:37.59.
Joel McFarlane sits in seventh through the first day of competition in the men's heptathlon with 2,954 points. He placed sixth in the 60m hurdles (7.06), seventh in the long jump (6.75m), fourth in the shot put (13.16m) and 11th in the high jump (1.84m) on Day One.
In the long jump, Emma Seetoo jumped the ninth-farthest indoor mark in program history with her leap of 6.16m (20-2.50). She finished seventh overall for two TCU points. Jaren Holmes also medaled in the long jump as he finished eighth with his mark of 7.47m (24-6.25).
Rounding out the day was the school-record performance in the men's DMR. Johnson Lagat, Dominic Byles, Giovouni Henry and Graydon Morris clocked a 9:50.22 to finish ninth. The previous record of 9:54.46 was set in 1996.
Through the first day of competition, the men's team sits in 10th place and the women's team is 12th.
