
Frogs Fall to Aggies

TCU tallies four gold, six silver and 11 bronze medals
FORT WORTH – The TCU women's swimming and diving team fell to Texas A&M University, 176-116, Friday afternoon at the University Rec Center.
Freshman Nina Vadovicova led the Horned Frogs with two gold medals in the 100 and 200 breaststroke. On the boards, Lauren Cey earned a career high score in the 1-meter dive.
IN THE POOL
The meet began with TCU finishing second and third in the 200 Medley Relay. Tania Quaglieri, Vadovicova, Jeanne Dahmen and Serena Gould made up the second fastest team in the event with a time of 1:43.40.
Kara Church had a strong showing on senior day with two silver medals. The Arizona native earned her first second place finish this season in the 1000 freestyle with a time of 10:14.12.
Senior, Mikayla Popham, was second in the 200 freestyle for the third swimming to a time of 1:53.64. That is the Australians third second place finish in the event this season.
Quaglieri led the Frogs in the 100 Breaststroke earning a bronze medal with a time of 55.44.
Vadivicova earned the first gold medal of the afternoon in the 100 breaststroke touching the wall at 1:03.65. The Solvakian finished with a 2:17.49 in the 200 breaststroke to earn the Frogs nine points.
Olivia Rhodes earned her third first place finish of the season in the 50 freestyle with a time of 23.33. She went on to finish third in the 100 freestyle swimming to a time of 52.38.
ON THE BOARDS
Lauren Cey kicked off the springboard event for the Horned Frogs with a career best 313.70 on the 1-meter.
Anna Kwong secured the silver medal for the Frogs on the 3-meter with a score of 319.55.
UP NEXT
The TCU men's swimming and diving team will take on Texas A&M tomorrow (Jan. 13) in the University Rec Pool at 1 p.m. The women will be back in action next week when they travel to Iowa State on Jan. 20.
