Horned Frogs collect seventh sweep of the season
FORT WORTH -- TCU women's tennis (8-3) earned its second lopsided win of the week, taking down Texas State, 6-0, on Saturday afternoon inside the Bayard H. Friedman Tennis Center. The Horned Frogs won all 13 completed sets in the dual, winning the doubles point at No. 1 and No. 2, before winning all five singles matches in straight sets. The No. 6 singles match was stopped after the first set.
TCU improves to 8-0 at home this season, winning seven of those matches via sweeps. The Horned Frogs are 26-2 in singles matches on the purple courts and 16-3 in doubles, winning 89.4 percent (42/47) of the overall completed matches, at home.
Aleksa Cveticanin, Mercedes Aristegui and Isabel Pascual each went 2-0 today. Pascual has been in tremendous form for TCU this season, posting a 10-2 overall record and 4-0 mark in singles play with the results today. Cveticanin has now won five straight matches dating back to her singles win over Texas A&M last weekend.
Aristegui won her singles match: 6-0, 6-0, her first bagels of the season and her first double bagel as a Horned Frog. It was the most dominant win of her career and her ninth and 10th career 6-0 set victories in purple and white.
Otway continues to impress in her freshman season. The New Zealander is now 6-0 in home singles matches and 7-2 overall. She has won all 14 of her completed sets on the purple courts this season. She is outscoring her opponents 92-35 in home singles matches.
TCU collected the doubles point with a pair of victories from the top two doubles pairs. Aristegui and Pascual earned their first doubles win in their second start together this season, before Cveticanin and Stevie Kennedy delivered their team-leading sixth win of the season at No. 1 doubles.
TCU collected its 25th straight victory over Texas State today. The Horned Frogs lead the all-time series, 25-0.
