The two-day meet will begin Oct. 15.
FORT WORTH – Coming off successful meets against UTPB and at the FIU TYR Classic, the TCU swimming & diving programs are set to compete at the USC Invitational Oct. 15-16.
The invitational will feature USC, UNLV and UC San Diego. Last season, USC's women's team finished fourth in the Pac-12 while the men's team placed fifth. Both of UNLV's teams won their WAC championships last season.
The Horned Frogs have never competed against USC throughout the program's history. The last time TCU competed against UNLV was in 2011 when the men's team lost 157-136 and the women's team fell 161-139. Against UC San Diego, both Frog teams picked up the win the last time they faced off in 2012, with the women's team winning 170-127 and the men's squad winning 165-135.
Last Time Out
At the FIU TYR Classic, the men's team finished second overall while the women's team finished fourth. At the meet, the Frogs picked up four individual wins. Geremia Freri won the 500 freestyle, Francesca Pasquino won the 100 backstroke, Emma Hultquist picked up the win in the 500 freestyle and David Ekdahl continued his dominating start to the season by placing first on the 1-meter.
Against UTPB, the Frogs swept multiple events en route to wins on both sides. Highlighting the meet for TCU was Jordan Edwards as she won the 1000 freestyle, 200 butterfly and 200 breaststroke. On the men's side, Michael Chwaluk took two events as he was a part of the winning 400 medley relay team and earned the victory in the 1000 freestyle.
Big 12 Honors
For the week of Oct. 4, four Frogs earned Big 12 weekly honors for their performances against Incarnate Word on Sept. 24.
Ekdahl was named Newcomer of the Week and Diver of the Week as he swept both boards against the Cardinals. He broke the school record and notched a Zone cut on the 1-meter with a score of 363.97 and recorded a Zone cut on the 3-meter with a score of 370.72.
Freri earned Men's Swimmer of the Week honors as he won the 200 freestyle, 500 freestyle and 400 IM. Olivia Rhodes also notched three wins against UIW as she was on the winning 400 medley relay team and took first in both the 50 freestyle and the 100 freestyle.
