Eight TCU swimmers will compete
FORT WORTH – TCU swimming opens its 2019-20 campaign on Saturday at Lone Star Lake in Lawrence, Kan., at the 2019 CSCAA Open Water Nationals.
Four swimmers are making their TCU debut between Lisa Johnson, Abigail Meder, Charles Millette and Nick Skinner. Saturday also marks the beginning of year two in the James Winchester era.
Last season, TCU's men's trio of Dayne Odendaal, Rhory Legendre and Kevin Chao combined for a fourth-place team finish in the 5,000m race. Odendaal led the way for TCU, finishing fifth overall with a mark of 59:35.14.
Emily Visagie, Nicqueline Rettberg, Megan Morris and Amanda Key represented TCU on the women's side, finishing fifth as a team.
The morning starts with the men's race at 8:30 a.m. followed by the women's at 10. The championship field consists of 80 women and 54 men.
The University of Kansas is hosting the event for the fourth-straight year. The 5,000-meter race (3.1 miles) will consist of a three-loop swim.
Participation is limited to a maximum team entry of five individuals per race. Swimmers must have met these qualifying times between Sept. 1 2018, and Sept. 1, 2019, in order to compete:

The first three swimmers from each team to cross the finish line receive the points that correspond to their place. The first-place swimmer receives one point, the second-place swimmer two, and so on. The team receiving the lowest score wins.
Admission to the event is free and spectators are encouraged to park in the lot above the beach, using the staircase to access the road and shoreline.
