AUSTIN, Texas – For the third time in as many days, one of TCU swimming and diving's relays broke a school record. Following the men's 800 free and women's 400 medley relays on days one and two, TCU's women's 200 free relay set the school record on Friday night.
SCHOOL RECORD
TCU tandem of Claire Munster, Micaela Roemer, Amanda Key, and Claire Banic finished with a time of 1:31.54, breaking a seven-year-old school record from 2012. Munster and Roemer were also members of the women's 400 medley relay that set the school record on Thursday. The team finished fourth in a photo finish, with Kansas, West Virginia, and TCU being separated by a total of .16 seconds.
BRONZE MEDAL
Senior Dayne Odendaal had a career day in the 400 IM. In the championship finals, Odendaal finished third with a NCAA "B" cut and personal-best 3:51.14. Third-place is the highest individual finish of his career at the conference meet. Tommy Thach, Kevin Chao and Rhory Legendre also represented TCU in the 400 IM finals, finishing sixth, seventh, and eighth respectively.
CHAMPIONSHIP FINALS
In the women's 100 fly, Roemer finished fifth with a time of 53.98. Her 53.97 time from the prelims ranks second in school history, trailing Roemer's school record of 53.79 from last year.
After setting the 100 back school record last night as lead off in the medley relay, Maddie Ibrahim nearly rebroke it in the 100 back finals. Ibrahim finished in 53.86 and placed fifth.
TCU had a trio of Horned Frogs reach the championship finals in the women's 400 IM. Kiki Rice was one of the top performers on the day, finishing in fourth-place with a personal-best 4:19.80. Ally Robertson finished sixth and Megan Morris finished eighth.
Three Horned Frogs made it to the men's 100 breast championship finals as well. Hugh McPherson led TCU with a fifth-place time of 55.23, followed by Ian Bennett in sixth, and Jackson Boersma in seventh.
Joao Andrade and Noah Cumby added seventh and eighth place finishes in the men's 200 free, while Reed Dittlinger finished eighth in the men's 100 fly.
TCU's men's 200 free relay, consisting of Jackson Boersma, Dittlinger, Matthew Brewer, and Cumby, capped off the night with a second-place finish. The group finished in 1:02.69, the third fastest time in school history.
