
Preview: Big 12 Indoor Championship

LUBBOCK, Texas – TCU track and field will compete at the 2019 Big 12 Indoor Track & Field Championship on Friday and Saturday at Texas Tech's Sports Performance Center. This weekend will be the third time this season TCU has traveled to Lubbock.
MEET INFO
The Big 12 has been one of the most competitive conferences in the NCAA this season, with six men's teams in the top 30 and three women's teams in the top 25. Both the men's and women's fields are led by host-Texas Tech, whose men rank No. 1 nationally and women rank No. 13.

LAST TIME OUT: Texas Tech Classic
The Horned Frogs had several standout performances the last time they competed in Lubbock. Chengetayi Mapaya had a career meet, breaking Scotty Newton's school record for the indoor triple jump with a jump of 16.65m (54-7.5). Also having a career day, Derrick Mokaleng ran a personal-best 45.67 in the men's 400m, which matched Lewis Banda's school record.
TCU had several event winners throughout the meet. In the women's long jump, Destiny Longmire jumped a conference-leading and season-best 6.28m (20-7.25) and finished first. Lily Beckford took home the win in her first time running the 600-yard, finishing in 1:20.07. On day one, a pair of TCU's distance runners won their events with Mariah Castillo winning the women's 1,000m and Evelyn Mandel winning the 5,000m. The men's 4x400 relay rounded out the meet with a win. Darrion Flowers, Emmanuel Ogwo, Tinotenda Matiyenga, and Mokaleng finished in 3:07.28 and defeated Texas Tech's A squad.
In the men's 60m, Tarrick Brock, Matiyenga, and Lebogang Maloka all ran season-best times and reached the finals. Brock and Matiyenga finished third and fourth overall.
Flowers and Matiyenga ran well in the men's 200m, finishing second and fourth with times of 21.05 and 21.14 respectively.
