
Seven Named Academic All-Big 12

FORT WORTH, Texas – Seven members of the TCU men's and women's tennis teams were honored by the Big 12 Conference on Monday afternoon by being named to the 2018 Academic All-Big 12 First and Second Teams.
Alastair Gray, Alex Rybakov, Reese Stalder, Marie Norris and Aleksandra Zenovka were the First Team selections, while Guillermo Nuñez and Alexis Pereira were named to the Second Team. Six of the athletes earned the academic honor for the second time in their career, while Zenovka has now been honored with First Team distinctions for the third straight season.
First team members consist of those who have maintained a 3.20 or better GPA while the second team selections hold a 3.00 to 3.19 GPA.
To qualify student-athletes must maintain a 3.00 GPA or higher either cumulative or the two previous semesters and must have participated in 60 percent of their team's scheduled contests. Freshmen and transfers are not eligible in their first year of academic residence. Senior student-athletes who have participated for a minimum of two years and meet all the criteria except percent of participation are also eligible.
Both the TCU men's and women's tennis teams are headed to the Big 12 Championship that will be held in Austin, Texas from April 26-29 at the Texas Tennis Center. The men earned the No. 1 seed and a first-round bye and will face the winner of the Oklahoma State vs Baylor match on Saturday at Noon. The women will face-off against West Virginia in the first round on Thursday at 10 a.m.
